List of documents that can be used to confirm identity

You will need to provide a minimum of THREE original documents: -

ONE document from Group 1 and any other TWO documents from either Group 1 or 2.

If you cannot provide at least one document from Group 1 you must provide at least FIVE from Group 2.  Preferred documents are highlighted in bold

GROUP 1 DOCUMENTS

Valid passport (any nationality)

Driving licence (photocard must be presented with its current paper counterpart driving licence)

Original birth certificate (issued within 12 months of birth) or Adoption Certificate

HM Forces ID Card  

EU National Identity Card

Firearms Licence (UK)

GROUP 2 DOCUMENTS

Marriage/civil partnership certificate

Non-original birth certificate (issued more than 12 months after of birth)

Valid vehicle registration document

Valid insurance certificate

Exam certificate (e.g. GCSE, NVQ)

National Insurance card (UK)

NHS Card (UK)

Certificate of British Nationality (UK)                                                               

Connexions card

One of the following documents from the Borders and Immigration Agency:

Asylum Registration Card

Convention Travel Document (CTD)

Stateless Person’s Document (SPD)

Certificate of Identity (CID)

              (Documents less than 3 months old)

Bank or Building Society statement

Utility bill (electricity, gas, water, phone or mobile contract)

Credit card statement

Store card statement

Addressed payslip

Mail order catalogue statement

British work permit

Certificate Financial Statement, e.g. pension, ISA, endowment

Court Claim form

Correspondence or document from the:

Benefits Agency

Employment Service

Social Security

Inland Revenue

Local Authority

Letter from your Head Teacher
